Karimoku New Standard

Karimoku, the largest Japanese manufacturer of wood furniture with a history of 70 years, launched KARIMOKU NEW STANDARD in 2009.
Born out of a collaboration with some of the most promising international design talents, this collection features innovative, joyful and functional objects, made to suit the ways of urban living in the 21st century and find a place in your daily life.
The products of KARIMOKU NEW STANDARD are essentially made of solid Japanese hardwoods such as maple, chestnut and oak. In an attempt to preserve and revitalize Japanese forests and resume a balance with the local industry, the hardwood used is gained from lowdiameter trees that have previously remained significantly underused, ending up mostly as wood chips for paper pulp. Karimoku’s tradition derives from a deep understanding of craftsmanship, bound together with innovative technologies to build furniture that meets the highest requirements of quality and sustainability. The items of KARIMOKU NEW STANDARD are made to last last true to the credo that a piece of furniture should live at least as long as the tree it was made from and become invaluable to their owners.
